Our Spartan managed to grab the Conduit, but not before the Covenant succeeded in using it to open Forerunner portals across the galaxy. Turned out, Jul ‘Mdama wanted to use the device to unleash an army of Prometheans so his Covenant could control the Halo ring, but they didn’t know one of our best - a Spartan Headhunter - was ready for ‘em. It wasn’t until five years later, in 2557, that we detected the Conduit on Gamma Halo, Installation 03. Unfortunately, after Regret jumped away from Earth, the Conduit disappeared into slipspace as well… This was a Forerunner artefact that could open up slipspace portals and we sent an ODST team to secure it. The story as you know it is that they were looking for the portal to the Ark, but they were also looking for something else: a device called the Conduit. Our second historical scenario takes place a few months earlier in 2552, after the Prophet of Regret and his Covenant forces arrived in New Mombasa. Spartan Davis gave his life to save many others, and Spartan Palmer managed to avenge his death by taking down Merg ‘Vol. While the Spartans were successful in disabling the device, the Covenant forces launched an attack and their mission turned to evacuation of UNSC forces - oh, and the device caused the planet to destabilise. Spartans Sarah Palmer and Edward Davis were stationed on X50, one of Draetheus V’s moons, which turned out to be a Forerunner mining installation that could be used to build and destroy whole planets. Our first scenario is the Battle of Draetheus V, which started after a Covenant splinter group - led by Merg ‘Vol - ignored the Ceasefire of 2552 that ended the war (officially, at least).
